He was sitting at the help of a starship while most of his other crewmates were learning to walk or ride a bike. Mayweather grew up on a low speed, long-range transport vessel capable of warp 2. Travis' upbringing gives him piloting skills that would have been underutilized had he remained on a transport ship.
